    Attention to detail

    2012 - 03.10

It’s all about the details.  Do you notice that this hair cut is two very different cuts?  Do you notice that there is an intentional line of demarcation in this hair color, and that there are actually three colors in the hair?  If the hair were styled differently, would you notice?L

How would this hair cut work for you?  Could you take bits and pieces of each part of this cut or any other hair cut and apply it to your hair style?

One guest came in and wants a specific cut and a specific look.  The front of the hair (from the ear forward) is cut completely differently then the back of the hair.  Both hair cuts are wonderful, but essentially they are two seperate and distinct cuts.  What is your style?  What defines you?  What do you want to do when you walk out of the salon?  Let us know what you want.

    Redken 5th Avenue – Afterthoughts

    2012 - 03.09

The week in NYC was so overwhelming that my intentions of blogging every day were not able to be met.  All in all we did five different hair cuts, all demonstrating techniques that are very important to enuring the best possible service.  When I first came back from the city, I was so overwhelmed with information and made the mistake of trying to implement everything that I learned.  Mistakes happen, and I learned to take it a little bit at a time.  Each day I have tried to focus on one portion of the education I received in the city, and have slowly implemented the different techniques in everything that I do.

One of the biggest challenges in hair is getting into ruts, we all do it.   We all get into periods where we do the same things over and over, and rarely change what we are doing.  That is until something like the Exchange comes along and whips me into shape.  There are so many opporutinites to change now, so many possibilities.

If you feel like changing something up, let any one of us know.  We’re slowly learning some new things.
